It's been a busy time for me, I have given my first large group lesson.  I decided to do a review of a chapter the students were doing, so I did a Jeopardy style power point.  It went very well, so well that the teacher who I am observing asked for a copy and he sent it to other history teachers, I was excited to hear that.  My next big hurdle is a paper for my psychology class that is due this Thursday, I haven't started it just yet, need more observational time for that one.
My husband was offered a job in Maryland to work on the new Marine 1 helicopters.  If he takes the job he would have to go to Maryland without us, I would have had to stay here due to school and the house.  It is a chance in a lifetime to do this type of job, however due to the current status of me, not being truly employed, and the housing problem, the timing was not right.  So Wichita will have to put up with us for a little while longer.
My oldest daughter, Brandi just joined the Civil Air Patrol or CAP for short.  So I will be adding stuff about that program when I can.  For those who are unfamiliar with my family, Brandi has just turned 13, and for the longest time all she has ever wanted was to be an astronaut.  She helped raise money last year to attend Space Camp up in Hutchinson, Kansas Cosmosphere.  Brandi now has her sights on the Air Force Academy in Colorado and in doing so she needs leadership experience and on their website they suggest either the scouting programs or CAP.  I am very proud of her and her sisters.
Well that's it for now, I need to start working on that paper!

Welcome

My name is Mitsy Docter.  I am a student teacher out of Wichita Kansas.  I will be starting my student teaching at a local urban school next year.
I am a wife, a mom and a part time employee so I have many hats not unlike any one else.  So if you would like to read along on my path towards being a teacher, this is your invitation.
